In February 2023, Team Humboldt’s adventure began with the purchase of an American school bus. Their ambition? To transform this bus into a fully livable "home on wheels". They envisioned a unique transformation: the integration of solar panels and a rooftop terrace. Our team was excited to bring this custom design to life. They designed the necessary roof rails and crossbars so that their solar panels and rooftop terrace could be installed.
The system is based on two black aluminum extrusion rails (MT515-BL) measuring 7.6 meters in length, which are securely mounted on the roof of the bus using custom-made L-shaped stainless steel brackets. The black design perfectly complements the bright yellow bus and the black solar panels.
The components were delivered in a DIY kit, allowing the Humboldt team to assemble and install everything themselves. The end result is a bus that is not only functional but also stands out with its sleek appearance. Curious about the final transformation? Visit the Project Humboldt website for a complete look at this impressive project.
