We gave our roof rack caps a second life: a practical step towards a circular economy

Our roof racks are known for their long lifespan.

They are made from anodized aluminum, a material that is light, strong, and fully recyclable, making our products sustainable and environmentally friendly. The low weight also reduces fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions during transport. In addition, all our products are mechanically assembled without welding, reducing energy use during production. These thoughtful choices ensure that our roof racks last a long time while also contributing to a lower ecological footprint.

As a result, many previous-generation mobietec roof racks are still on the road today. Over the years, some have lost an end cap. While this may seem like a small detail, it is an essential part of proper finishing and protection of the roof rack.

To address this, we developed a simple but effective initiative. Our colleagues now carry small kits with these old end caps, which they can leave behind when they encounter a vehicle with a (previous-generation) mobietec roof rack missing an end cap. This way, usable parts remain in circulation, customers are helped, and unnecessary waste is avoided.

The circular economy is about keeping materials and products in use for as long as possible. Reuse, life extension, and waste reduction are central to this. By reusing existing components, the roof rack end caps, and extending the life of our products, we contribute concretely to a circular economy.
