It is impossible to categorize every professional in the same way. Plumbers, painters, window installers, window washers - everyone has their own specific job, and with that comes different transportation needs. To meet this variety of transportation needs, we have designed several roof rack models. Before choosing a roof rack, it is important to determine how often you will need it, what materials you will transport, the size of the vehicle and where you will park it.
Step 1: How often do you transport materials?
The frequency with which you transport materials will determine which roof rack best suits your needs. Do you use your roof rack only occasionally, or is it an indispensable part of your daily work?
Transporting equipment sporadically?
-
Load carriers: specially designed for sporadic use. They are light, sturdy and easy to mount and remove, making them ideal as a quick and budget-friendly solution.
- Flat roof rack: An excellent choice for those seeking functionality without sacrificing practicality. The low profile allows your vehicle to fit more easily into garages and reduces fuel consumption when the carrier is unloaded.
Transporting equipment everyday?
Closed, open and flat roof rack: For daily transportation, a sturdy and functional roof rack is a smart investment. The different models are tailored to your equipment, parking options and vehicle type. These roof racks make your work easier and more efficient by ensuring maximum stability and ease of use.
Step 2: What materials are you transporting?
The type of material you are transporting will determine which roof rack or accessory is most suitable. Whether you are carrying ladders, glassware or pipes, mobietec offers a solution that ensures safety and efficiency.
Ladders and beams
- Roof racks with closed sides: This is the most popular and versatile roof rack, ideal for safely transporting various materials. The wide construction allows two ladders to be placed side by side, providing extra strength when tying down. Beams also lie stably and securely on this type of carrier.
- Roof racks with open sides: In addition to a modern look, open sides offer a practical advantage: they make tying thin and short pieces of material easier. On ladders with a flared base, this construction provides additional space by sliding the base through the openings.
Glassware
- Internal glass rack: For safely transporting glass, windows and sheet metal, an internal glass rack is an excellent choice. Your valuable cargo is protected from theft and weather conditions such as rain and hail.
- External glass rack: If you want to save space in your van, an external glass rack is ideal. It allows you to transport glassware without the need for a trailer. Clamping poles and a rubber insert ensure that your load is firmly secured and absorbs shocks during transport. Additional supports, an embedded ladder or a combination with a roof rack are possible.
mTubes
For smaller pipes or tubes, the mTube, i.e. a tube tube, is the perfect solution. Available in different heights and lengths up to six meters, and easy to install on or next to your mobietec roof rack thanks to its modular system. The mTube is securely lockable with a key and can be loaded and unloaded from both sides. Plus, you save time because you don't have to manually tie down the tubes.
Step 3: Where do you normally park?
Cities - few and tight parking options: In cities, sometimes we can only load and unload along the side of the car. An open roof rack makes it easy to work along the side of the car. For tying down pipes and beams, for example, this is a good choice. A closed roof rack remains ideal for transporting standard ladders.
Open spaces - lots of room to park/load or unload: An open roof rack allows ladders with wider bases to slide easily through the openings. A closed roof rack meets most usage needs and is ideal for transporting almost all materials. The closed edges help reinforce the tethered load.
Garages - watch out for height: In addition to the height of the car, the extra height that a roof rack gives must also be considered. A flat roof rack offers all the benefits of a roof rack, but ensures that the car will still fit in the garage.
Step 4: What is the size of your car?
With low cars, the load can remain accessible through load carriers, a flat roof rack or an open roof rack where you can reach the load through the sides. With large cars, the maximum roof load is higher and therefore more can be transported. For this, it is safer to choose a roof rack with raised edges.
Low vehicle
With a lower vehicle, it is important that the load remains easily accessible from all sides. Load carriers, a flat roof rack or an open roof rack are the best options here. Also, the overall height of your vehicle remains limited, which is useful for parking garages or low clearance heights.
Medium vehicle
For a mid-height vehicle, you have more flexibility. An open or closed roof rack is a good choice, depending on your specific transportation needs and the other three factors.
Large vehicle
With a tall vehicle, the maximum roof load is often higher, allowing you to transport more or heavier material. To ensure the safety and stability of your load, a roof rack with raised, high sides is the best choice.
